Another school year draws to a close, and we again reflect back on what an incredibly busy and productive year it has been at Greenvale!
Starting our year with our first ever Key Stage 2 year 3 class, those children and staff have worked incredibly hard and have made brilliant progress. (They all now have new stone-aged man names!). Year 2 have been very productive, using every learning moment they can, even this last week of school, finding a passion for writing cinquain poems!
Year 1 we always find is a year of enormous change, and our Owls this year are no exception to the rule of making great steps of progress in their achievements and attitudes to learning. They are also diligently caring for a new member of the class (Jeremy the avocado plant), watch this space for updates next year!
Reception have made a wonderful start to their time in school, and we appear to have a set of mini David Attenboroughs, who are passionate about animals in particular bug hunting and pet snails! And also our nursery children, whose enthusiasm for Danny Go dancing and singing knows no bounds.
All of these things compliment the curriculum learning that goes on every year. On behalf of myself and Mrs Allnutt, we would like to say a huge thank you to our amazing staff team who have supported us and your children in their usual dedicated manner. And to you for your part in supporting your children's development and progress too.
Have a wonderful summer break, to the whole Greenvale community, and we look forward to seeing you back in September.
Mrs Powlesland
Deputy Headteacher
Staff Leavers
We said our goodbyes to Mrs Ward this week, who is leaving us to take up a new teaching position (nearer to home). Mrs Ward has taught here at Greenvale for 11 years, and many of your children will have been taught by her in Reception or Nursery. We wish her all the very best wishes and good luck for her new ventures ahead.
Mrs Dunn will be leaving us for her maternity leave for baby number 2. As many of us know, second babies can be quite the adventure! We know that the whole family are very excited for the new arrival, and we will keep you updated of news after the Summer.
PE days:
For September please note the following:
Year 4 Otter Class: Monday
Year 2 Badger Class: Tuesday
Year 3 Hedgehog Class: Wednesday
Year 1 Owl Class: Thursday
Please make sure your child comes to school in their PE kit on this day, along with their school jumper.
*Dark coloured shorts *White T-shirt * Dark coloured jogging bottoms
*Trainers or plimsolls (no laces unless your child can do them up themselves)
PE kit is uniform – we will ask for a different set if they are not uniform
Bags:
We are asking that from September children bring ONE bag to school please, with all of the things they need. One bag is enough for children to organise and sort in the mornings, and storage of more than 30 bags is proving more difficult in classrooms.
Thank you.
