The last term of the school year is always busy. Please ensure you check the website on a regular basis for any date changes or details for events.
Polite reminder, if your child is unable to attend school for any reason, please call the school office or email us on office@greenvale.medway.sch.uk
Phonics Screening
Parents of children in years 1 & 2, you have already received the information that Phonics screening will be taking place next week: Monday 12th-Friday 16th June.
If your child is absent at any point next week, the school can then administer the check, up to the 23rd June.
It is a short, statutory assessment to ensure that children are making sufficient progress in the phonics skills to read words and are on track to become fluent readers who can enjoy reading for pleasure and for learning.
The check is not about passing or failing but checking appropriate progress is being made. You will be informed of whether or not your child has met the required standard when you receive your child’s report in July.
Over the next few weeks we have school trips taking place.
We are aware that it is exciting to wave your child off on the coach, however we are asking that you do not stay behind to do this.
We are on a strict timetable when we leave for a trip. We have the safety of the children to consider as we approach a road. It is upsetting for some children after we have prepared them to leave.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Sun Safety
We hope that we are now seeing the start of summer and sunshine.
Please ensure that your child brings to school every day a water bottle, and has a summer hat to wear for outside time.
Bottles and hats must beclearly labelled with your child's name.
Frozen Thursday
The PTA will be starting Frozen Thursday from next week, and selling ice lollies at the end of the school day.
Please keep a look out for the flyer with all the details.
